Insurance with international solutions

The bilateral agreement between Switzerland and the EU/EFTA has resulted in changes for certain categories of residents of EU/EFTA Member States, i.e. pensioners, frontier workers and those receiving unemployment benefits in Switzerland.

For all other categories of residents abroad, the system remains the same and there is no legal framework for the provision of health insurance coverage by Swiss insurance companies. Health insurers may (but are not required) to offer health insurance products to Swiss Abroad.

We recommend that you contact your insurance company directly to ask if it offers the possibility of health insurance abroad.

If this is not the case, we can provide you with the addresses of companies who do offer international health insurance.
