Most courses in these schools lead up to a secondary school-leaving certificate which gives admission to the universities of the host country. In Milan, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Bangkok and Bogota the school can also be completed with a Matura examination, acknowledged at cantonal and federal level in Switzerland. Some schools have now also introduced the International Baccalaureate (IB) which gives holders admission to a wide range of universities in Europe and overseas.
At all schools German is the second vehicular language of education, together with the national language or English. The school in Bogota also has a French-speaking department.
