The mobility of our fellow citizens

The Organisation of the Swiss Abroad (OSA) was founded in 1916 to forge closer links between the Swiss Abroad and their homeland and to allow them to take part in national life to a greater extent. However, the history of emigration dates back beyond the foundation of the OSA.

The anniversary of the OSA provides an opportunity to look back at Swiss emigration throughout the world to understand how it has developed and in which respects the members of the 'Fifth Switzerland' constitute a major asset for our nation today.
